Standing as the global hub of the display industry for more than six decades, this year’s Display Week, presented by the Society for Information Display (SID), made its return to Silicon Valley at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center on May 12 to 17, welcoming the world’s top scientists, engineers, researchers, and business leaders in the display industry. Building upon its past successes, SID Display Week 2024 delivered yet another compelling lineup of keynote speeches, technical sessions, and exhibitions showcasing the latest advancements in display technology.
As one of the key premiere exhibitors for this event, LG Display’s SID 2024 booth was filled with buzz and excitement, particularly over its captivating array of next-generation OLED technologies, both large and small sized, and even extending to automotive displays.
LG Display presents solutions for ‘A Better Future’
One of the biggest and brightest eye-catchers from LG Display’s booth was its showcase of the micro display 1.3-inch OLEDoS(OLED On Silicon) for VR and smartwatch, unveiled to the public for the first time at SID 2024. Boasting an ultra-high brightness of up to 10,000 nits and 4K-level ultra-high resolution with the LG Display’s Micro Lens Array (MLA) technology, a tech media editor commented, “OLEDoS for VR was the most astonishing OLED technology at this year’s Display Week, while the OLEDoS for smartwatch impressed me enough to make me throw away my old watch for a brand new smartwatch.”
LG Display also garnered attention with its ultra-large sized 83-inch OLED TV panel featuring the company’s latest ‘META Technology 2.0’ to achieve the highest brightness of any existing OLED TV panel at 3,000 nits. META Technology 2.0’s performance is underpinned by the META Multi-Booster and Detail Enhancer display enhancement algorithms in combination with MLA+. Together, they make it possible to clearly and vividly express abundant natural colors and brightness in any environment as if seen with real eyes.
In addition to its OLED TV panel, LG Display’s 27-inch Gaming OLED with the OLED’s first 480Hz refresh rate and the 39-inch Ultra-Wide Gaming OLED with an immersive 800R curvature were popular amongst the gaming visitors. Upon experiencing both gaming monitors, a journalist remarked, “LG Display’s Gaming OLEDs are sure to capture the hearts of many hardcore gamers. More and more gamers will be looking to purchase a Gaming OLED in the near future.”
