Follow LG Display’s journey of OLED innovation,
where future technology became today’s reality.

For a long time, displays were widely perceived as rigid and difficult to reshape, creating the assumption that there were inherent limits to how far display technology could evolve.
However, LG Display broke through this long-held perception by pioneering curved and bendable screen technologies, and later advancing to Bendable, Foldable, and ultimately Rollable OLED form factors — demonstrating the limitless possibilities of display innovation.
Structural Innovations Behind Rollability
Self-emissive OLED + Ultra-thin Glass Technology
OLED technology makes paper-thin panels and various designs such as rollable concepts possible thanks to its self-emitting nature that does not require a backlight unit.
Moreover, by combining OLED with ultra-thin glass able to be rolled up and down countless times without breaking despite its slimness. Especially, LG Display’s 65-inch Rollable OLED achieves an ultra-slim thickness of about 3mm, maintaining unmatched picture quality without distortion even after repeated rolling and unrolling. By refining glass to a level that supports both flexibility and durability, LG Display opened the door to an entirely new type of large-sized display.
Innovation Built on Tens of Thousands of Tests
A New Form Factor That Redefines the Role of TV
LG Display conducted a number of reliability tests to ensure that the panel could be rolled and unrolled tens of thousands of times without any degradation or functional issues. The company also developed a new rolling mechanism and production environment capable of handling ultra-thin glass safely and consistently. These engineering breakthroughs made it possible to realize a large-sized display that can literally roll away when not in use.

This flexibility fundamentally changes how a TV interacts with space. Traditional TVs dominate the largest wall in a living room, but Rollable OLED appears only when needed — transforming the TV from a permanent object into a dynamic interior element.
Placed on the floor, in front of a window, or integrated into furniture, the screen can be partially revealed or completely hidden to match the user’s lifestyle and the space around it.
A Timeline of Innovation
Global Recognition of LG Display’s Rollable OLED
2018, First unveiled the world’s 65-inch UHD Rollable OLED at CES, introducing the concept of a “TV that rolls” to the world. 2019, Awarded the Presidential Prize at Korea’s Industrial Technology Awards.
2021 Named Display of the Year by the Society for Information Display (SID).
This timeline demonstrates that Rollable OLED is not a one-off idea but the result of long-term research, accumulated know-how, and LG Display’s unmatched leadership in OLED innovation.

The rollable OLED extends far beyond home entertainment. Its flexibility, high picture quality, and minimal spatial constraints make it suitable for commercial environments, exhibitions, as well as in-car and in-flight display systems. As displays evolve from rigid objects into adaptive, spatial media, Rollable OLED marks a major milestone in the future of screen design.
