SEOUL, Korea (December 17, 2025) – LG Display, the world’s leading innovator of display technologies, announced today the launch of its first new OLED technology brands — Tandem WOLED and Tandem OLED — in 13 years, as the company seeks to actively communicate its OLED technology philosophy and differentiated customer value.
The “Tandem” aspect of both brands emphasizes the strengths of LG Display’s OLED technology —- enhanced durability and performance, longer lifespan, higher luminance, and lower power consumption — achieved through an industry-first stacked OLED structure in which the three primary colors of light, red (R), green (G), and blue (B), are layered in independent tiers.
Tandem WOLED applies to large-sized OLED TV and monitor panels, which are now distinguished from Tandem OLED for small- and medium-sized panels, including automotive, tablet, and laptop displays. LG Display has made this distinction in order to intuitively convey their unique features.
By adding the “W” in Tandem WOLED, the company is drawing attention to the white light source that is one of the defining characteristics of its OLED technology. The Tandem WOLED brand marks a significant landmark since LG Display became the world’s first company to mass produce large-sized OLED products in 2013.
Meanwhile, Tandem OLED highlights the technological advantage of stacking two RGB layers. Together, these brands point to the infinite potential and scalability at the heart of OLED technology.
Also as the world’s first company to commercialize Tandem technology, LG Display plans to further solidify its technology leadership by promoting differentiated customer value based on vivid, long-lasting brightness in any environment; high efficiency that minimizes power consumption; and design freedom that transcends conventional limitations.
The new brands will be unveiled for the first time at CES 2026 in Las Vegas. LG Display will engage with customers through a large-sized OLED booth at the Conrad Hotel near the main CES exhibition venue, while presenting an automotive display booth in the West Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC), which will host the show’s mobility technology.
“The vision of LG Display OLED is to enable more natural and deeper communication between people and devices through outstanding picture quality and diverse form factors,” said an LG Display official. “With the establishment of this technology brand system, we will actively promote LG Display OLED’s differentiated customer value and unrivaled competitiveness, while enhancing brand trust within the global market.”
