Against the backdrop of a warm spring day, LG Tech Conference 2025 was buzzing with passion and talent from both industry and academia circles.
Dating back to 2012, this year’s LG Tech Conference was held on April 3 at LG Sciencepark in Seoul’s Magok district. The event saw executives and employees from group affiliates share their technological innovations and future R&D directions. As this event aimed to unearth the next generation of talent, the enthusiasm of the participants was palpable. This year, the conference was all the more lively because it expanded its reach to include not only outstanding master’s students and Ph.D. candidates in STEM fields, but also gifted students from science-focused high schools.

LG Tech Conference 2025 presented technology sessions, featuring lectures on the status of technological innovation by field experts, and a poster session that offered a unique opportunity for engagement and dialogue. Right from the outset, a keynote speech about the current AI megatrend received a lot of attention.

Insights from LG Display Experts
LG Display held tech sessions in which its experts gave lectures on display technology for invited talent dreaming of the future, with nine LG Group affiliates participating.
Jun-tak Oh, in charge of AI/big data at LG Display, presented a noteworthy tech session on “Manufacturing Innovation Using AI.” Most companies are actively investing in AI utilization, so this session drew a particular focus. During the Q&A part, they discussed their experience of how AI technology is being used in the field.
There were also deep-dive tech sessions that ran longer and presented even more technical expertise. For instance, Woong-gi Jun, Head of R&D Strategy & Planning at LG Display, gave a lecture on “OLED Technological Innovation and the Future Roadmap.”
Under the theme “OLED Innovation and Emerging Fields, Display Technology That Illuminates the Future,” the talk was divided into three key topics:
▲ Natural Reality: OLEDs deliver perfect blacks and rich colors that LCDs simply can’t match, creating visuals that are lifelike and immersive. It is like looking at a starry night sky in real life. In addition, OLEDs emit less blue light compared to LCDs and produce minimal screen flicker, so you can watch comfortably and protect your eye health while enjoying the best picture quality.
▲ Convergence: OLED’s self-emissive technology, which requires no backlight, allows it to be used in flexible formats like bendable and foldable displays, expanding its applications across industries.
▲ Eco-Friendly: LG Display’s OLEDs are also in the spotlight as sustainable and eco-friendly displays, using over 90% fewer plastic raw materials than LCD counterparts and improving their recycling rate of parts to more than 92.7% when products are discarded.
From Poster Session to Exhibits:
Something to See Around Every Corner
LG Tech Conference 2025 offered not only insightful tech sessions but also a variety of engaging on-site activities that captured the attention of invited talent. One of the highlights was the poster session that provided a valuable opportunity for academic exchange between invited participants and LG employees.
Rather than just attending lectures, the invitees were able to engage in open conversations with senior employees who had prepared posters in four key technical fields: Bio, Chem, DX, and Elec.
They shared positive poster session feedback, such as, “It was good to be able to freely ask questions – not just about technical topics, but also about what it’s like to work in the field and how to build a successful career. It was a chance to get answers to things we’ve always been curious about.”
A “Tech Zone” also featured a showcase of products from various LG affiliates that had been exhibited previously at CES and other external exhibitions. LG Display captivated invitees by presenting its cutting-edge OLED technologies and products, offering a rare glimpse into the innovative advancements in display technology that are not easily accessible in everyday life.

Another participant shared their appreciation, insisting, “It was a valuable opportunity to experience how advanced technologies are used in the real world – something we wouldn’t be able to fully grasp from a classroom lecture alone. I hope there will be more events like this in the future to help guide our career paths.”
