K-Display 2024, the largest display industry exhibition in Korea organized by the Korea Display Industry Association and hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy, took place in Seoul at the COEX exhibition hall during August 14th to 16th.
As a global leader of display technologies, LG Display showcased a range of cutting-edge technologies at K-Display 2024 under the slogan ‘A Better Future.’ The exhibition featured various large-sized OLEDs for TVs and gaming monitors, automotive display solutions optimized for Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs), and high-end LCD technologies. Let’s take a closer look at the next generation of displays designed to improve our lives!
83-inch OLED TV Panel: Surpassing the Limits of Picture Quality
with ‘META Technology 2.0’
Upon entering LG Display’s exhibition area, the first thing that captures attention is the overwhelming size of the company’s 83-inch OLED TV panel. This panel, equipped with LG Display’s latest ‘META Technology 2.0,’ boasts a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, around 42% brighter compared to previous generation, making it the brightest OLED TV panel on the market. This enhancement ensures vivid picture quality even in well-lit environments, and with infinite contrast ratios and rich color expression, the screen details appear so realistic that visitors experienced an immersive feeling as if being drawn into the screen.
Differentiated Gaming OLEDs with META Technology 2.0
and Various Cutting-edge Features
LG Display has applied ‘META Technology 2.0’ not only to TVs but also to gaming monitors, showcasing stunning visuals and gaming excellence. LG Display’s full lineup of gaming OLEDs, ranging from 27 inches to 45 inches, offers a world-leading refresh rate of up to 480Hz, a bendable function that adjusts curvature depending on the game genre, and the new DFR (Dynamic Frequency & Resolution) technology, creating an immersive environment where gamers can fully immerse themselves in their respective gaming worlds.
LG Display’s recently developed DFR technology – a world-first innovation that allows users to seamlessly switch between high refresh rate mode (FHD at 480Hz) and high-resolution mode (UHD at 240Hz) depending on the content they are using on a single display. This groundbreaking technology captured the attention of visitors who enjoy a wide range of entertainment content, including gaming, OTT streaming, and work tasks.
Automotive Display Solutions Painting the Blueprint of Future Vehicles
As we enter the era of electric and autonomous vehicles, the passenger experience is becoming increasingly important. At K-Display 2024, LG Display presented an autonomous driving concept car equipped with various automotive displays for ‘A Better Future.’ LG Display caught visitors’ attention with its large-sized, energy-efficient, and ultra-high-brightness displays based on the company’s P-OLED, ATO(Advanced Thin OLED), and LTPS LCD solutions.
Visitors seated in the cockpit of the concept car were wowed by the massive ’57-inch Pillar-to-Pillar LCD’ display that spans the entire dashboard. As the largest display of its kind in the world, this display transforms the vehicle’s interior into a vast digital space, demonstrating its ideal fit for the shift towards Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs).
Meanwhile, visitors seated in the back were amazed by the innovations in vehicle entertainment and information systems showcased through the ‘18-inch Slidable OLED’ and the ‘55-inch Transparent OLED.’ The 18-inch Slidable OLED, which smoothly extends from the vehicle’s ceiling when needed, offers a range of content options such as movie watching, news viewing, and video conferencing based on user preferences. The 55-inch Transparent OLED, which serves as a car window, delivers necessary information intuitively and vividly without blocking the passenger’s view.
Optimal High-End LCD Solutions for Professionals
LG Display also introduced enhanced premium LCD products at this year’s K-Display, featuring IPS Black and IPS Gaming monitors and laptop panels. Attendees were captivated by the IPS’s distinct wide viewing angles, color accuracy, and exceptional detail even in dark scenes. The IPS Gaming monitors, in particular, offered fast response times and high refresh rates, delivering an exceptional visual experience that caters to the diverse needs of gamers and professionals.
At K-Display 2024, LG Display went beyond showcasing mere display technologies, presenting a range of possibilities that could transform our daily lives, both today and tomorrow.
