LG Display receive “Display of the Year Award” for its 65-inch Wallpaper OLED TV panel at SID

Seoul, Korea (May 18, 2017) – LG Display, the world’s leading innovator of display technologies, announced today that it will receive “Display of the Year Award” for its 65-inch Wallpaper OLED TV panel at the Society for Information Display(SID)’s Display Week 2017 event being held at the Los Angeles Convention Center from May 21 to 26.

“This honor is recognition of LG Display’s global leadership in innovative, cutting-edge OLED technology,” said Soo-Young Yoon, Vice President and Head of LG Display Laboratory. “We are committed to continually leading the innovation of next-generation display technologies as the leader in the global display industry.”

The award-winning 65-inch Wallpaper OLED TV panel is less than 1mm thick and weighs only 7.4kg. When assembled as a TV set, it still boasts a thickness of just 3.55mm. In addition to its immersive viewing experience, this makes it possible to stick the product to a wall like a picture frame to maximize design effect.

In particular, the company’s Wallpaper TV panel was recognized for its innovative technology which creates new possibilities for the potential of displays in terms of application and design, and also for its excellent picture quality. Its prominent technological leadership has already been recognized in the world by winning the 2017 CES Best Innovation Award and over thirty awards from influential global media.

“We are delighted to award LG Display a Display of the Year Award for its 65-inch Wallpaper OLED TV panel,” said Wei Chen, SID’s Display Industry Awards Committee Chairman. “On behalf of SID, we would like to commend LG Display’s ongoing commitment to innovation and to helping shape the future of display performance and solutions.”

Recognized for its technology leadership in the world’s display market, LG Display will present a record 28 papers during SID 2017 regarding the company’s expertise in innovative display technologies. Among the papers are “Internal compensation type OLED display using high mobility Oxide TFT,” “Study on the flat speaker direct driving of the flat OLED display,” and “Consideration of display metrology for HDR and WCG standards based on real content.”
