Las Vegas (Jan. 4, 2017) – LG Display, the world’s leading innovator of display technologies, will showcase cutting-edge display products and highlight its global leadership in OLED technologies at CES 2017 in Las Vegas from January 5 to 8.
LG Display will emphasize its dedication to offering the best technology and products to customers, under the slogan, “Our Technology, Your Innovation,” at its private showroom in the Las Vegas Convention Center. The company will be exhibiting various futuristic products based on its differentiated technology.
In an industry first, LG Display will introduce Crystal Sound OLED – a brand-new technology achievable only through OLED, as it does not require backlights. Crystal Sound OLED is a panel containing an embedded sound system – which essentially makes the display a standalone TV. In addition to superior picture quality, it maximizes the immersive viewing experience by offering direct sound from the characters on the screen as they speak, instead of off-center sound from speakers. The company will unveil 55-inch and 65-inch UHD Crystal Sound OLED products.
To highlight OLED’s unlimited potential, LG Display will introduce Wallpaper OLEDs, paper-thin 65-inch and 77-inch UHD OLED displays for TVs that can be attached to the wall. It will also showcase 55-inch FHD transparent OLED displays, 77-inch UHD double-sided OLED displays and pillar-type commercial displays that combine six 77-inch UHD OLED panels.
Making clear its commitment to the IT display market, LG Display will demonstrate differentiated value through its “large-size, high-resolution” product strategy. LG Display is also expanding the application of in-TOUCH technology that embeds touch sensors in the panel, in its 24-inch range monitor. The in-TOUCH technology allows for thinner, lighter designs due to the absence of touch cover glass. In addition, the 13.3-inch in-TOUCH panel has an Active Pen Solution with a touch function that offers higher accuracy and faster response rates, as well as more detailed expression from pen pressure, compared to the existing add-on method.
For the automotive sector, LG Display will showcase future displays that take the technology to the next level. Plastic OLED technology combines unbeatable image quality and perfect black expression; on the design front, it comes in large sizes and offers high design flexibility. Notably, plastic OLED is optimal for interior design for autos as it harmonizes with curved surfaces. LG Display will showcase large-sized cluster displays, center information displays and passenger-seat displays, which are designed to improve safety and convenience. In addition, futuristic concept products, including large-sized transparent OLED and mirror OLED displays, will provide visitors with the experience of being in an actual vehicle of the future.
LG Display will emphasize the advances its IPS technology delivers in terms of wide viewing angles and high resolution LCDs. The company will showcase various IPS products with improved picture performance and cost competitiveness through WCG (Wide Color Gamut), HDR (High Dynamic Range), and high-resolution technology solutions, based on higher transmission ratios and upgraded picture quality.
Of particular interest, the company will introduce its exclusive WCG technology called IPS Nano Color, which delivers richer and more accurate colors through the use of nanoparticles. In addition to the advantage of the wide viewing angle in IPS technology, it provides more accurate colors at different angles. The exhibit will include a 65-inch UHD product.
The showroom will also feature the world’s largest 38-inch range curved monitor, suitable for both the office and the gaming environment; a 32-inch range panel with 8K4K resolution that offers lifelike images; and a 32-inch range HDR panel for video editing professionals.
Finally, the company will introduce 5.5-inch QHD plastic OLED to highlight its entry into the small and medium OLED market, as well as circular and square-type plastic OLED products for smartwatches.
“On the basis of its differentiated technologies, LG Display has been offering industry leading products that provide new value beyond market expectations,” said Sang-beom Han, CEO of LG Display. “We will continue to strengthen our leading position by pre-empting the market and offering differentiated value to customers not only with OLED – the next-generation display – but also with new technologies that overcome existing limitations.”
